Oxford Union News |
We were delighted to welcome over four thousand people to our Oxford Open Doors event last Saturday! Thank you very much if you came along.
The Oxford Union Society was one of 125 venues across the city which opened their doors to the public across the weekend, offering a unique chance to explore and enjoy Oxford's rich heritage.
The Old Library, a striking example of Victorian architecture, and the Pre-Raphaelite murals were firm favourites among our visitors, who were eager to find out how debates are conducted and discover the Union's unique legacy in preserving meaningful debating and free speech.
The Debate Chamber was filled with displays about famous debates and we were able to play an audio montage of historic debates from our newly digitised archives, featuring speakers such as Malcolm X, Boris Johnson, and Desmond Tutu among others.
