Requesting access arrangements for events

The Oxford Union is dedicated to ensuring that it is as accessible as possible for all of our members. If you ever have any questions regarding the accessibility of an event or the Union more generally, please email access.officer@oxford-union.org. You can also raise thoughts and suggestions at Access Committee, which meets at 15:30 on Wednesdays in Full Term.

Any member who has accessibility requirements is entitled to request reasonable adjustments. Our Accessibility Pass Policy is available on the Rules and Policies section of our website - see here.

For any specific accessibility queries regarding an event, please contact the House Manager at bar@oxford-union.org or the Chair of Consultative Committee by emailing ccc@oxford-union.org. We can ensure that there is space for a wheelchair, make provisions for a guide dog or make any other reasonable adjustments necessary to enable you to make the most of your membership.

The first bench on the left-hand side of the door as you come into the chamber is an access bench that acts as reserved seating for anyone with accessibility difficulties. If you have any issues using this bench please alert a member of the committee who is working the event. The Union also has ramps for the chamber, entrance to the main building, and Goodman Library, if these are not in place when you arrive, potentially due to bad weather please alert a member of security who are at the front gate at all times. There is a hearing aid loop in the chamber and, should you wish to use it, switch your hearing aid to 'T'.
