The Oxford Union Society Trustee Limited (OUSTL) seeks the appointment of up to 2 directors following the death of one of its founding directors, the Honourable Peter Jay. OUSTL is a limited company and a corporation trust. It was established for the purpose of becoming the sole trustee of The Oxford Union Society.
The directors of the corporate trust are required to act in accordance with the rules of the Society, the provisions of the supplemental Deed of Trust 1999, and the duties of directors as prescribed in the Companies Act 2006 to keep in trust the assets of the Society. The Society is an unincorporated association, under the direction and control of its governing body, the Standing Committee, accountable to its membership as per the rules, regulations and standing orders of the Society.
We are particularly seeking individuals with a strong background in finance and/or accounting to augment the knowledge, skills and experience of the current three directors. It is highly desirable that applicants have previous experience of serving as a non-executive director and/or a trustee.
The Society would welcome applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds and applicants with lived experience of disability who are currently under-represented at director level in OUST Ltd.

The appointment process will consist of the following steps:
The preferred applicants will be reviewed by the Standing Committee, which will nominate its preferred candidate(s) for approval by the membership at a public meeting of the House.
The membership will vote to approve the candidate at which point the offer of the appointment will be made to the successful candidate.
