Proof of eligibility |
Proof of institutional status Where being a member (or alumni) of a specific institution qualifies you for an Oxford Union membership, you will be required to upload proof of being part of that institution. Acceptable documents include a photo of your institution ID card, a confirmation letter, or a graduation certificate. | Proof of residence Where the location of your primary residence qualifies you for an Oxford Union membership, you will be required to upload proof of address. Acceptable documents include a utility bill dated within the last 3 months, a council tax bill, or a valid driving licence. A full list can be found here. | Proof of financial status For access memberships, you will also need to upload proof of your household income so we can assess your eligibility. Acceptable documents include either proof of your Student Finance England maintenance amount, or confirmation of your Oxford University bursary or scholarship. Please make sure any documents have both your name, and the amount of support/ loan you receive. |
...A note on the Facility Fee
The Facility Fee goes toward the upkeep of our beautiful Grade II* listed buildings and is vital for the continuation of the Society.
All members who reside at an Oxford postcode for the duration of the University of Oxford terms or longer per calendar year are required to pay an annual Facility Fee as a condition of their membership. This is currently £13 per year and increases annually on 1 July, in line with that year's April CPIH percentage.
The fee is set as defined in the Society's rules (rule 4 & standing order 9). The first payment of this fee is rolled into membership signup, and will be taken annually on the date of joining. The onus is on the Member to cancel their payment once they move away. Members are, of course, welcome to keep paying their fee beyond their time in Oxford.
