Changpeng Zhao, known as CZ, is the founder of Binance, which he launched in 2017 and built into the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume. One of the most influential and closely watched figures in digital finance, he stepped down as chief executive in 2023 as part of a settlement with US authorities, served four months in prison, and was granted a presidential pardon in 2025. He remains a major shareholder in Binance.
